Call for PhD Symposium

The PhD Symposium brings together Ph.D. students working on topics related to the field of IoT, providing them with an opportunity to present and discuss their research with their peers and senior faculty from the PhD Symposium Committee of the ICIIT 2017. The friendly atmosphere shall provide guidance and successful research career to the participants.

It is planned that each student will be allocated a 30-minute time slot, with 15 minutes for a presentation and 15 minutes for oral feedback by at least three senior faculty or researchers. The presentation will be intimate to encourage interaction, with only the session organizer, reviewers, and other student DC presenters in attendance. Reviewer feedback will cover all aspects of their proposal (the choice of topic, how it is to be examined, etc.). Students are expected to attend all presentations in their sessions.

State of the art: Describe relevant related work and point out open research questions, Proposed Approach: Present the approach and its novelty and significance relative to the state-of-the-art.

Methodology: Sketch the methodology that is (or will be) adopted and, in particular, the approach to be taken for evaluating the results of the work.

Results and work in progress: Describe the current status of the work and results that have been reached so far. Discuss how the work will be evaluated, stating how the suggested solution is different, new, or better than existing approaches to the problem.

To participate in the symposium, the PhD students are invited to send a short paper (extended abstract) related to their ongoing research.

Submissions will be judged based on originality, significance, technical merit, presentation quality, and relevance. Each paper will be reviewed by at least two members of the PhD Symposium Program Committee. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings of the PhD Symposium and made available at the conference web site during the conference period. The authors of accepted papers must register to the conference, attend the Symposium and present their paper.
